Achala Abeysinghe is Principal Researcher and Team Leader of the global climate law, policy and governance team at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). She heads ecbi's Training and Support Programme, and is legal and technical adviser to the chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) group for the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Abyesinghe is also a lead author of the chapter on Climate Resilient Pathways in the 5th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
